WHAT: An asset that maintains or grows its’ future purchasing power vs. other competing assets.

WHY: Physical assets such as gold, silver, art, real estate, etc have proven to be useful stores of value when other assets decline – esp. those tided to base consumer prices.

EXAMPLE: as inflation rises, the purchasing power of gold (or bitcoin) rises as competing fiat currencies decline.
